Students want their teachers back

Who would have thought that one day parents would look after their children at school?

Who would have thought that one day parents would look after their children at school? The thought might have never crossed your mind, but because of the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) withdrawing its members from the schools in the Greater Eldorado Park area, it has come to that.

With the teachers not being at school, it has caused mayhem in Eldos where students loiter around in and out of the schoolyard. Students from all over said that they were disappointed in their teachers for boycotting the schools.

Word on the block is that SADTU members set students up to cause mayhem, this is all speculation, and however, the students did it anyway.

Students from Silver Oaks Secondary School and a couple of learners from Eldorado Park Senior Secondary School took to the streets in protest.

The learners protested with boards saying that they want their teachers back. Learners protested in their school uniform from Silver Oaks all the way down to the Blue School.

With the SADTU strike still active students are losing out on work, and logically, as soon as they return, the ones who will be under pressure, are the students. They’ll be under pressure because they now have to make up for lost time.

Hopefully, SADTU will hear the students cry and allow their members to return to school.

According to Khume Ramulifho from the DA, a teacher’s rights are secured and protected but it should not be at the expense of a child’s right to learn.
