Things to get personal at the Soweto Theatre

The show is titled "It's Personal with Bekezela."

Bothwell Nkomo has endured a lot of hardships and has been through a lot of struggles in his life. On a quest to fulfil his musical calling he left his home in Bulawayo, Zimbababwe and headed for the big bad City of Gold. Upon arrival in the City of Gold, things did not come easy again.

It is only fitting that his stage name is Bekezela, which can be loosely translated to being patient or endure.

Almost ten years since that big move from Bulaway, Bekezela is finally blowing up and music lovers from across the country are in for a treat.

He dropped his first single in 2010 while he was on a part time gig in Sandton.

“Bekezela is a cry from a young man who is a long distance relationship due to circumstances beyond his control,” says Nkomo of his first composition.

Since he composed that song, Bekezela has not looked back. He has since released a self-titled album which is a fusion of afro pop, world music and soul bringing social commentary and unique storytelling to one.

These are sure some exciting news for all the music lovers out there. What is more exciting though is the fact that this multi-talented artist will share his craft with sowetans this Friday, February 23 at 8 pm.

He will grace the stage at the Soweto theatre and sure leave music lovers from all walks of life begging for more.

The show is titled “It’s Personal with Bekezela.”
