Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14 in commemoration of Saint Valentine and the letter that he wrote to Asterius’s daughter. Asterius was a man who was a man who was to judge Saint Valentine, because of his stand for Christian marriage.
Valentine was eventually caught, imprisoned and tortured for performing marriage ceremonies against the command of Emperor Claudius the second.
Valentine was supposed to have prayed with and healed Asterius’s blind daughter, and as the story goes, the last words he wrote were in a note to Asterius’ daughter. He inspired today’s romantic celebration by signing it, “from your Valentine.”
So now Valentine’s Day is celebrated with flowers, sweet treats, and red hearts. Some might say that Cupid is in full action on this day.
