Cleaning together for the good of the community

#Aresebentseng campaign continues to keep streets clean.

Following the #Aresebetseng cleaning campaign which occurred in Chiawelo recently, the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services employees, Fire Fighters, paramedics and Support Staff went on to continue with the campaign which aims to clean the City of Johannesburg areas.

The campaign noted the call from the City Executive Mayor, Councillor Herman Mashaba of keeping the streets of City of Joburg clean.

Employees of the city rolled up their sleeves and took part in the first ever #Aresebetseng Staff Participation initiative by cleaning up a dumping site.

Robert Mulaudzi of the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services has urged residents to continue to maintain the areas which have been cleaned to be litter free and encouraged them to join the movement of being environmental warriors by making sure that they always keep their streets clean.

He also encouraged all EMS staff to continue to make a difference in the lives of the residents as mandated by one of the departmental foremost mandate of saving lives and properties of the citizens of the City.

The campaign started at the Avalon Area, which forms part of Avalon Cemetery and the historical Chiawelo Koppie, where the Soweto Mountain of Hope (SOMOHO) is situated.

It was covered with long uncut trees, grass and huge rocks and residents feared for their lives as criminals have taken over the mountain for their own illegal activities. The #Aresebetseng was launched in August under the leadership of Mashaba.
