Greater Eldorado Park Youth Desk has a newly elected committee

Youth Desk has an open door policy.

The Greater Eldorado Park Youth Desk has been re-established and a new committee has been elected.

Themba Motaung (Chairman), Pearl Naude (Deputy Chairman), Scebiso Masondo (Secretary), Sandy Fourie (Deputy Secretary), Finley Watson (Public Relations officer), Tshepo Mqabasa (Head of Department – Youth Safety), Tebogo Mabassa (Head of Department – Youth Empowerment) and Mzuyakha Mfeketho (Head of Department – Fundraiser). These are the names of the newly elected youth desk.

Motaung said, “We are looking to redefine the existence and the image of the youth desk. This has been an office that has been separated from the young people out there.

“It was previously unknown and it had no relation to the outside world. So what we are looking to do is to re-establish it, to make it known, to reconnect with the young people out there.”

He continued, “This office should become an office that connects the corporate, the community and the safety of our people. We are also looking to enhance the safety measures around the community regarding the arrests of young people, young people getting into trouble.

“We are very much looking into interacting with the young people and with this being said we hope that the community will also engage with us.”

He concluded, “We’ll be using all forms of communication, on social media and so forth. The office will have an open door policy where young people can inquire.

“We also looking to work hand-in-hand with the Social Crime Prevention Unit and we are also looking to establish relations with the LDAC in particular.

“Our mission is very broad, we have the mother body which is the CPF and we’ll be getting further instructions from them on how we can conduct our business. We’ll be partnering with other policing precincts and that is our way forward and that is how we are looking to grow.”
