Taxi driver left seriously injured after a road rage skirmish

The victim is fighting for his life at the Baragwanath hospital.

A taxi driver from the STS (Soweto Taxi Services) association was left seriously injured after a road rage incident that took place at Elias Motsoaledi road, Mofolo last week Tuesday.

According to a media statement by the SAPS, the driver got into a fistfight with another driver before the other driver pulled a gun and shot him three times.

He was shot in the shoulder, stomach and hip. The driver fled the scene and disappeared into the bushes leaving his taxi unattended.

The victim was then rushed to Baragwanath hospital where he is in a serious condition.

“We appeal to the community to assist the police with information about the whereabouts of the taxi driver. His name is M.J. Masiloane from Naledi in Soweto but we believe that he might be hiding at his fellow colleague’s or girlfriend’s place.

“We do not have his full name only his initials and surname. Anyone with any information about his whereabouts kindly contact the Moroka detective head Colonel Japie Van Wyk at 084 587 4049 or 011 527 0000 during office hours,” said Captain Lucas Khoza.
