The Greater Eldorado Park community has taken their new year’s resolutions to the next level.

The Greater Eldorado Park community has taken their new year’s resolutions to the next level.

They have lodged complaints to the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC), Dr Mpho Phalatse upon her visit to the clinic in Eldorado Park Extension Two in the first week of December 2017.

Complaints were lodged to the MMC along with the Ward 18 Health Representative (WHR), Charlene Meyers and the chairperson of the clinic committee, Humphrey Mccaully.

The issues and concerns that were raised by the community were problems such as the outside queueing in the early hours of the morning, the long queues, waiting periods, staff attitude, lack of communication as well as the lack of medication.

Subject to confirmation the MMC will be re-visiting the clinic on January 23.

The clinic committee’s role is to ensure that the concerns raised are dealt with accordingly. The committee is made of eight members that are broken up into different roles.

The committee is made up of five community members, the WHR, the chairperson and the councillor.

The role of the chairperson is to address issues, complaints, suggestions, compliments together with the committee, councillor, operations manager, and the WHR.

The role of the WHR is to interact with the community in terms of information, programmes available that are provided by the Department of Health. Her role is also to listen to the suggestions and discrepancies raised by the community.

Monthly meetings are held to make sure issues are attended to, as well as discuss these issues and finding the best possible solution. According to the Mccaully, with regards to progress, there is a 50/50 balance. Some people say that they can see a difference and some disagree.

The clinic has now implemented a three-month trial basis of extended hours. The extended service that is provided is the clinic will now operate on a Saturday as well from 730 am to 1 pm.
