#SundayRECAP: Help find girls who’ve been missing for three months

Teens missing since last year November.

It is any parent’s worst nightmare when children disappear without a trace. The house is no longer filled with the laughter of children, you no longer have to separate squabbling siblings and the uncertainty about whether they are safe, are being fed and are unharmed gnaws at you.

The void their absence leaves manifests itself in the sleepless nights you spend tossing and turning in your bed. Your appearance changes overnight and your frame becomes gaunt to the point of being skeletal as the worry eats away at you.

You knock on doors, spend your last cent hiring a car to drive you up and down as you search for your missing children.

As the days pass, you hold on steadfastly, hoping that today would be the day you find your children. Unharmed, safe and a little worse for wear, but finally reunited with you.

For 13-year-old Luphiwa Mphahleni and 16-year-old Amahle Magcanye’s parents, this is a nightmare they have been living since November 11 last year. The pair disappeared from their Slovo Park home and have not returned.

There have been reports of sightings as far away as Protea South, but no concrete evidence has surfaced to provide tangible proof which could help return the missing teens to their home.

Residents from the Greater Eldorado Park are asked to keep their eyes peeled for them and to report any sightings at the Eldorado Park Police Station or by contacting sergeant Natasha Govender on 084 304 0710 or 011 946 0326.
