Car hijacking and theft is still a lucrative trade for criminals who strip stolen or hijacked vehicles in order to sell the parts. They usually operate in syndicates and target cars from other areas.
Eldorado Park residents, however, are intent on putting an end to crime in the area and remain vigilant in the fight against crime.
Cooperation between police and the community is vital to ensure that criminals are kept off our streets and the stranglehold crime has in the community is broken.
For this reason, it is imperative that the community remain vigilant and report crimes to police so that these thugs are taken off our streets and a semblance of normality is returned to the greater Eldorado Park.
Many residents agree that, for too long, gangsters, criminals and drug-lords have been allowed to operate with impunity in many communities.
Questions have often been asked what the reason for this is and the fear exerted by hoodlums appears to be a major reason why law-abiding citizens look the other way when criminal activity is taking place on their doorstep.
One resident who refused to look the other way after noticing strange goings-on in their area, anonymously alerted police and a 28-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

Eldorado Park police communications officer, captain Phillemon Khorombi said of the arrest, “Police, acting on an anonymous tip-off proceeded to the crime scene and, on their arrival, found a suspect stripping a BMW in what is believed to be a chop shop.
“Further investigations revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen at the Edenvale Police Station and the vehicle was taken to the Lenasia storage camp for further investigation.”
The man was detained at the Eldorado Park Police Station holding cells and Khorombi added that more arrests were expected as the 28-year-old is believed to be part of a car theft syndicate.
