Concerned about the future

A pamphlet that caused community members to be concerned about the future.

Concerned residents of Orlando East are concerned and troubled by what their children read in the neighbourhood advertisements.

A few weeks ago a pamphlet advertising man for hire was circulating in the community of Orlando East.

It is well known that prostitution is illegal in South Africa for both buying and selling sex, as well as related activities such as brothel-keeping and pimping.

However, the number of people who are engaging themselves in these activities is still on the rise. There are a number of factors contributing to the rise of this issue amongst the factors is poverty and wanting to fit in.

It is believed that this is the reason why South Africa is in the top 5 list of countries HIV and AIDS statistics. A parent of a 21-year-old Thandiwe Nyoni said their children are exposed to such and in their mindset sex with no string attached is normal.

Nyoni believes that this advert is instilling a mindset that sex without marriage is not a sin.

“This advert teaches young rich male and women that they don’t have to commit themselves in relationships in order to have sex,” explained Nyoni.

She said It strips away the natural way that a man should be with a woman in a marriage affirmed relationship Nyoni added that this is a way of saying that it’s okay not to love or commit and this advert does not understand the psychological implication for women.

She said this ad does not understand that women are emotional beings and that of women sex is the door to an emotional connection, women connect sex with emotions.

This advertisement takes away the pride of a clean and pure relationship.

Nyoni concluded by saying this stripes the society naked and create a community with no direction and if it continues the nation will die.
