The loss of a true patriot at heart

Sandile Camilo Malatsi was a true patriot at heart.

Politics can be a dirty game but the late Camilo wanted nothing but to play that game fairly to help his people.

The late Sandile Camilo Malatsi was a true patriot at heart, who figured out that an excellent mind is a powerful weapon and sought to sharpen his to fight the political battles of the country.

The late Camilo was an enthusiast and a faithful leader, hence, his memorial service at Naledi Hall was highly attended by the young people he led and made to hope for a better future.

Lindo Yende admired Camilo’s mind and spirit.

One of the youths who felt his heartbreak after hearing about the comrade’s death was Tshepo Kwele, who emphasised how the country may need more intellectual leaders like Camilo.

Kwele said, “It is a sad thing that we should lose such a brave, devoted and smart leader like Camilo, we must look to intellectual leaders to build the country, not the greedy.”

The uncle of Camilo, Peter Malatsi, spoke long in the memory of his disciple nephew and how passing both semesters for his political sciences studies marvelled him and made him take his nephew more seriously.

Tshepo Kwele and Kea Makgalatiba lost a friend and leader.

Uncle Malatsi said, “He was like my protégé and he yearned for knowledge. He tackled politics mentally and this was so special.”

Even the pastor at the memorial service was a youth; Pastor Thokozani Shoba expressed the heartbreak of losing a young fellow.

He narrated how a prayer meeting was held for Camilo’s recovery and he was said to be positively reacting until he finally passed away.

Camilo’s funeral was held at Naledi Hall on 29 December and the funeral proceeded to his final rest.
