Nikis Oasis presents Mangaliso Nhlapo

Concerts SA in partnership with Niki’s Oasis, presents Mangaliso Nhlapo, who will be showcasing on the 29th and 30th of December 2017.

Mangaliso Nhlapo, better known as Mangaliso, is a musician and composer born in small township of Rotunda, Heidelberg situated on the eastern side of Johannesburg, South Africa.

This prolific newcomer was less equipped to get seriously involved in the local music scene until African Jazz music producer and composer Joe Nina invited him into his studio and instantly hooked him up to work on new productions including various studio recordings and live band sessions.

In “Thoughts” his debut album, Mangaliso began working on his own freestyle projects. Mangaliso is an accomplished naturalist artist, his gift as a bassist and composer is influenced by the likes of Joe Nina, Woman Africa, Benjamin Dube, Tshepo Tshola, Themba Mkhize, Sibongile Khumalo and Mayibuye iAfrika.

He has worked with the likes of MXO, Tshepo Tshola, Joe Nina, Sechaba Pali, Makhabane (Big Fish) and Budaza, contributing to productions of albums as a producer, composer and session musician.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Mangaliso is highly proficient as a keyboardist, drums and electric bass.

He has co-created across the spectrum of musical styles: AFRICAN JAZZ (Tshepo Tshola, Joe Nina, Sibongile Khumalo, Themba Mkhize, MXO, Slique Angel and Bongo Riots), GOSPEL (Makhabane (Big Fish), Benjamin Dube, Rebecca Malope and Sechaba). R&B (Ishmael, Vusi Nova, Brian Themba), and TRADITIONAL MUSIC – (Woza Africa and Maybuye iAfrika)

This performance by Mangaliso Nhlapo at Niki’s Oasis Jazz Restaurant is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities, as well as anchor small and medium sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.
