Father Christmas’s township tour delights kids

Children in the community were gifted with sweet packs.

Christmas is celebrated every year on December 25. It is a Christian festival that is celebrated because of the birth of Jesus Christ. For the coloured community, this is the time for the aunties and uncles make their best or their specialty when it comes to their opinion of good food. They make food from roast, to gammon and the curries of course, and to top it off, desserts that will make your mouth water, but nobody enjoys washing the dishes.

Another important aspect of the festive season and Christmas is family and friends spending time together and catching up on the good ol’ times. Many children in the community don’t get to set up trees and get all the presents that they wish for.

On Friday, December 22, an anonymous member of the community decided that it was up to him to make Christmas mean something to those who cannot afford to celebrate it as expected. This person organised a horse as if it was Rudolph, posed as Father Christmas, and trotted through the streets of Eldorado Park and visited the kids in the community.

Father Christmas gave Rudolf, Blitzen and the other reindeer the day off and used tow trucks instead.

Like Father Christmas, he trotted through the streets with packs of luxuries. They made several stops at different locations within the community and handed out these lucky packets. Even the children walking around in the streets were gifted with sweet goodies.

With this lovely gesture, Father Christmas made Christmas a memorable time for the festive season and the children in the community.
