To our seniors, lunch is served!

The first week of the festive season started off with a joyful occasion for the seniors in our community.

The eighth annual senior’s lunch was held at the Master fields behind the old Saint Nicholas Home in Westbury on December 3. The lunch was hosted by many amongst Sureya and Mark Trimble.

“Many prayers were said as we had much-needed rain falling throughout the night in our area. God responded to the prayer by providing a sun-filled day,” said the founder of Service in Motion (SIM), Sheldon Morgan.

The seniors were dressed to the nines as they walked the glamorous red carpet to their seats. Volunteers and Trimble prepared a three-course meal for the seniors, this included a starter which consisted of chicken and a samoosa with a welcome drink.

The main course meal was mutton curry, stew, tongue, dumplings and an assortment of salads.

After lunch, the SIM’s team sang a few golden oldies which got the seniors to their feet as they were transported back into time. “There will be many of the senior wondering where their new-found pains came from,” said Morgan.

After all the fun, the dessert was served with various fruits. According to Morgan, 70-year-old Lionel Myles from Kofifi FM said the thank you speech on behalf of the seniors.

“This year there were a number of married couples present who have celebrated more than 59 years of marriage. Tributes were paid to them and every senior citizen present was sent home with a gift from the team,” said Morgan.
