An evening where the hard work and dedication of parent, teachers and of course, the learners all turned out to be quite rewarding for everyone. Bosmont Primary School hosted their Honours Evening on November 28 at 6.30 pm.
“I am very grateful to you parents and teachers for your dedication and support because your children would not be here tonight if it wasn’t for you,” said principal Latifa Jackson.
The awards were only for the senior phase learners, which is from Grades Four to Seven.
The evening was filled with a lot of excitement, nerves and load-shedding issues, but the night was not short of any stars because all the learners on the stage were the top achievers of their Grades.

For the first time ever, the school handed out a DUX award which is an award that is given to the student with the highest academic achievement for the entire year.
The candidate also has to have good extra-curricular activities to support the high level of academic achievement. The award went to the deputy head girl, Lesego Letsie who as teachers recalled, has always been consistent with her school work and her discipline.
Not only did she receive the prestigious award, but Letsie also walked away with the Principal’s Award as well. Jackson awarded her for her outstanding attitude towards her school work, her fellow learners, teachers and general assistants.
The young prodigy received numerous awards for the subjects she took throughout the year. The excitement towards her achievement brought the principal and teachers so much joy-not just for the evening but also because they were confident that she would represent the school well wherever she goes.
Letsie said, “I didn’t expect it but I’m very happy. I’ve always tried my best with the support of my parents. My motto was always to try to be the best and just outshine everyone.”
The young achiever intimated that she would be attending Florida Park High School next year.

“I’d like to say to the learners that you must always try your best, don’t let anyone ever try to belittle you, just do your best and shine,” she added.
The trophies for the awards were sponsored by BWilling Sales and Distributors and she was also given a brand-new blazer to start off her high school career next year.
The blazer was sponsored by ABC School Uniform and Stationery Store in Newclare. There was entertainment for the evening and many went home proud and excited about their achievements after the glittering ceremony.
