With media headlines making waves, various videos of people allegedly under the influence of the drug all over the social media, panic has risen in South Africa as the synthetic drug called ‘Flakka’, disguised as candy hits some parts of South Africa.
You have probably seen one of the videos, it is like a horror movie. Flakka is a new, synthetic drug that is closely related to bath salts.
It is a novel psychoactive substance, it can lead to rising temperatures, a heightened state of awareness and lack of sleep.

People who take the drug are often left unable to talk and have no idea of what is going on around them until the drug wears off.
They also become violent and thus, a danger to themselves and others. Kliptown Police has confirmed that the new highly addictive drug set to cause a zombie-like trance has hit the streets of the South Africa.
The police warn the community to take caution and keep an eye on children and warn them about the dangers of taking candy from strangers and to never consume candy that is not properly packaged.

- It is only safe to eat candy if it comes in a package
- Never touch the drug, if you do, use gloves
- If you spot anything like it, contact the police.
The drug is being distributed in a candy form, thus, it is manufactured to appeal children.
Symptoms include nervousness, dry mouth, dilated pupils, chattiness and extreme energy, should you find that a child has ingested the drug you should seek help immediately.
