Let’s go up on the roof

From Crisp Kitchen to a restaurant.

JJ’s Roof Top is a restaurant and bar that has recently opened in Extension Six Eldorado Park at Crystal Mall. The restaurant and bar have replaced what used to be known as Crisp Kitchen.

Juanita Mathomes made a clear statement that she and her team should not be compared to the work that Marc Crisp and his team were doing.

They’re bringing fresh flavour to the entertainment industry. Now you must be asking what JJ’s stands for. Well, it’s pretty simple, the one J is for Juanita and the J is Joann (Bridger).

They are the two co-owners of the restaurant and bar that will now have you entertained, and what better way to kick off the festive season as it is all about fun.

Mathomes said, “In the event world, we don’t really have a place to go here in Eldorado Park. So we wanted to use it as a restaurant as well as a venue for events. We would also like to consider our place to be a safe place for families, where they can have Sunday lunches and so forth.”

Bridger said, “I’m very excited having opened up our place.” On opening day, Bridger and Mathomes had tears of joy in their eyes but it’s not going to be easy.

“Bridger continued, “It’s exciting and scary at the same time, scary because we want to make our business a success.”

Mathomes added, “So it’s not just about having the restaurant, it’s about being a part of the community. Four people working in the restaurant come from Come Back Mission (CMB).”

Matthew Dane, one of the people from CMB, said, “It makes me feel better, working here because people started trusting me again and I felt accepted again in the community. I love being part of giving back to the community as well.”

Mathomes said that that was part of the challenges when taking on those in recovering from substance abuse.

She said, “We want to make their lives better, it’s a risk, to see if we are right or wrong.”

JJ’s said that they will be having a Christmas lunch with a little bit of giving away involved, something that comes with the Christmas spirit.

Mathomes said, “We want to do a Christmas lunch on December 25, the only difference with our lunch is that if you book a table for you and your family, you automatically book a table for someone less fortunate.”
