Your Yellow Ribbon means wellness

Wellness Centre to play a huge role in fighting social ills.

Preparing for the launch of the Yellow Ribbon Foundation container, Dereleen James and Coca-Cola have set out a day to paint the container which will be used as a consultation room for those who fall victim to the social ills of the community.

Dereleen James, an anti-drug activist said, “I’m very excited about what has happened here, which is the build-up to the launch which will be happening on November 24 in our community.

“Finally, we will be having our own wellness centre where mothers, addicts, or anyone in the community can come to if they need help with social ills that are affecting our area.

“I’m very excited for the fact that Coca-Cola came on board as one of the partners of the Yellow Ribbon Foundation and they will be journeying with us as we try and develop and bring sustainable programmes to our community.”

Pirtunia Dhlamini, the public affairs and communications manager for the Gauteng region for Coca-Cola said, “This is part of our employee voluntary programme. Where we get our employees to make difference in the communities where we do business.

“Dereleen approached us about a month or two ago asking for a centre where she can run the work that she does which I believe is great work. Helping the community in Eldorado Park, bringing children back and fighting the scourge drug abuse and so on in the community.

“So what we have done is, we have donated a container and we’ve refurbished it and today we brought our employees to be part of that giving back. So we believe we are a company that has a soul.

“This is one day off that each employee gets to give back to the community and really make a positive difference.”

Majubane Mthimkhulu from Coca-Cola said, “Today is a very special day for me because we get to thank the community for supporting our product and we also show them that we have not forgotten about them.

“It shows that we will always look after our loyal customers, but you guys are not just customers, your support takes care of us. For me, taking this day off work is very special to me because I know I will be making a difference in a child’s life.

“When they come to the centre they will see a completely different centre. It really makes me feel good when giving back, it assures the community that Coca-Cola is constantly doing their 67 minutes.”
