Dumping hotspots clean for how long?

Illegal dumping is a criminal offence with a penalty, people are urged to respect their communities.

The woes of illegal dumping have been alleviated for residents, but for how long?

Pikitup has been hard at work in an effort to keep communities clean and recently they went the extra mile to ensure that the environment is healthier by hiring Radisi Transport to clear hotspot dumping areas.

Ben Festera of Radisi Transport was the one handling the bulldozer from Radisi to scoop all the trash in the hotspots around the community of Diepkloof, he drove the bulldozer via various dumping spots including the Hospice in Diepkloof.

Festera explained the condition he found the areas and expressed his disappointment with the people who still continue to dump illegally even after spots have been cleaned.

Festera said, “We always do try to talk to the people, but they never listen, they don’t even respect the Clinic.”

Dumping hotspots are often cleaned but always get back to the same preposterous condition, even the manager for Diepkloof Square expressed the problem this illegal dumping is causing for the centre and the community at large.

Festera said, “We may be here today to clean and restore dignity, but by next week we will encounter the same problem.”
