Shaping a hairdventure!!

Nobody wants a bad hair day.

Hairstylists, Iran Bacon (31) and assistant Carol Williams (25) both have their hearts set in the right place.

Not everyone enjoys an office job and countless times people tend to complain about the work they are contractually obliged to fulfill.

Fortunately for Bacon and Williams, they knew what they could pursue as a career from a very early age.

Bacon started doing hair at 17 years old when he was still a Grade 10 learner, working part-time at Cin-Dee’s Hair Salon on the Main Road in Eldorado Park Extension Three.

He worked Thursdays and Fridays after school and decided to drop out of school to pursue his love and passion for hair.

The enterprising stylist started his own business and the first attempt failed.

He returned to Cin-Dee’s and worked there for three years before going at it again, and now he is back.

While completing his studies at Shaping Futures, he got an opportunity and was selected for the Miss South African Teen Hair competition and excelled.

This is evidence enough that hard work pays off. This year he was also chosen for a hair competition and he was chosen as a second-place runner-up.

After he completed his hairdressing course, Bacon spoke to councillor Peter Rafferty about a container that he will be using as his base for work. His approached yielded positive results and the container will be up and running from December this year.

He said, “I’m a hairdresser for years now and I didn’t know much about hair. That is the reason I attended a hairdressing course, in order to know more about hair and which chemicals should be used on hair.

“I did this because, as a hairdresser, you need to look after your client and his or her hair. Thank you to Shaping Future for the free course and making it possible.”

He also said, ‘’I’d like to send out a special thank you to the Extension One community for supporting me in this endeavour.”
