#SaturdayRECAP: Help Khuluma’s new home make a recovery

Do you know about Khuluma Ed-Diction Recovery and Integration Centre?

Khuluma Ed-Diction, a registered substance abuse recovery and integration organisation established by managing director and substance abuse recovery coach Rafeeq Ferguson, received the keys to its new home on November 5.

Located on 4th Avenue in Florida, the new centre is comprised of two units.

During two years of vacancy, the units fell victim to neglect and vandalism, leaving the premises in a derelict state.

The property was stripped of essentials and now requires a clean-up.

Khuluma is appealing to residents within the community to contribute towards the restoration, clean-up and refurbishment of the centre.

“We are extremely keen to acknowledge benefactors and donors on a public platform in the hope of encouraging the spirit of philanthropy among individuals and businesses,” said Ferguson.

The initial repair of both units requires a complete electrical rewiring, plugs and light switches, locks for front and bedroom doors and a replacement of taps in kitchens and bedrooms.

“Regardless of its current state, we are extremely enthusiastic about the clean-up process which lies ahead,” said Ferguson.

Other necessities include cleaning materials and tools, such as detergents and disinfectants. Furniture and appliances, like geysers, gas stoves and single mattresses.

Kitchen items, such as groceries and cutlery and bedroom essentials such as blankets, pillows and sheets. All of these items would greatly contribute towards the cleanup and future maintenance of the centre.

“Please know that any and all assistance and contributions are hugely appreciated,” said Ferguson.
