‘I represent my kasi, not myself’

Teddy Bear holds music close to his heart.

Music speaks to everyone but if music speaks to you the way Denlin Bear describes it, then music was made for you.

The young prodigy, who goes by the stage name of ‘DJ Pre-Tedzo’ is only 12 years old.

When other children are out playing marbles and top in the streets, Denlin is on the decks producing tracks and making mixes.

He started his musical career at the tender age of five years old because the people around him inspired him to do so.

He believes that his older brother, Elpresto, and his friends are his main inspiration as they encouraged him to pursue DJ’ing as a career.

Ironically, Denlin does not believe that DJ’ing is the career for him, even though he has been to South Africa’s Got Talent for the very same act. He said that he would rather study to be a doctor.

He said, “Even though I have come this far with the music that I have made, I want to study to be a doctor, I love music, but I need to study.”

Unlike many, Denlin has his head screwed on properly. He said, “House music is music that I love and I can never forget it.”

The young DJ has made a total of 13 mixtapes which each containing over 20 tracks.

The young prodigy has played in front of a few crowds. He had two of his very own gigs that reached out to over 1 000 people, in Kliptown and at Eldomaine High School.

Denlin said, “I was born in Johannesburg and raised in Freedom Park. The difference between the other DJs and I is that I represent my kasi, not myself.”
