Vukani MA-Africa continues to get stronger

"We also teach them poetry and cultural importance so that they should remember where they come from."

In an endeavour to help struggling learners from Dobsonville and surrounding areas with their school work, especially orphans and vulnerable kids – Vukani MA-Africa Non-Governmental Organisation was established seven years ago.

Speaking to the organisation founder Lettie “Mantombi” Mogale, she said they realised that orphans and vulnerable kids had no one to help them with their school work in most cases.

“Hence, we established the organisation, to help them with their school work, homework and other cultural activities.

“We also help where learners battle with their academic studies. As an organisation, we have noticed that some of the children are often being pushed to the next higher classes especially at primary school level, they then battle at the higher standard,” said Mogale.

She said their classes start at 3 pm Monday to Saturday until the afternoon.

Mogale said their NGO also teaches learners Biblical studies because it has been removed from the school curriculum.

“Learners of today they are not exposed to the role Biblical studies in their lives. Hence, they are being exposed to evils of this world at the young age because they don’t recognise the role of God in their lives.

“We also teach them poetry and cultural importance so that they should remember where they come from,” said Mogale.

Students from tertiary institutions are in charge of helping learners with their academic work at Studies Vukani Ma Africa centre.

Learners are being provided with food after their studies daily and food parcels when they have been sponsored with food.

“We have some of the great success stories of our learners who graduated through our programme such as Thato Mpitso now doing Management Degree and Boitumelo Mogale doing Management Degree.

“Both of them they were once students in our centre,” said Mogale.
