A man drove through the fences of Metro rail and ended up almost on the railway line in Industria. The accident occurred on October 21, on the corner of Albertina Sisulu and Edison Roads.
According to onlookers, a white Toyota Tazz was driving into oncoming traffic when the bakkie’s driver swerved to avoid the reckless driver.
The driver lost control of the bakkie and it appeared that the bakkie’s brakes failed.

This unfortunate incident resulted in him ploughing through the Metrorail fences and landing a few inches away from the railway lines.
The driver managed to climb out on his own and managed to get himself up when onlookers saw what had happened came to his aid.
The driver sat down on a concrete slab, and he was talking to the railway line security guard, but when was asked to give his side of the story, he appeared disoriented and in pain.

He was holding his armpits and chest. It is not clear if he wore a safety belt. A few minutes later, a call was made to the owner of the vehicle.
The bakkie was a company vehicle, a work colleague pulled up in another van to check up on his colleague.
The ambulance was called but at the time the driver just sat there in pain with all the questions to answer. Another thing that was missing at the scene was the driver of the car which drove into oncoming traffic.

The reckless driver drove off and never looked back to see the consequences of his negligent driving.
Everyone on the scene looked relieved that there were no trains the rails or else the driver would have plummeted down the embankment into the train’s path.
A tow truck was at the scene and paramedics had not arrived yet. Drivers are to be extra cautious on the roads as the festive season creeps in, and companies or vehicle owners need to have their vehicles tested to see whether they are roadworthy.
