The NSC final examination kicked off today [October 23].

The Department of Basic Education has released the National Senior Certificate (NSC) timetable for exams which began today and will end November 28.

Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi has been encouraging learners to dedicate themselves in class, arrive early at all times and listen to their teachers.

He said the matric final examination is the gateway to a promising future for those that put in the work and adhere to the instruction or guidelines as set out by the department.

“Perseverance is the mother of success. Only tough learners can complete the race,” said Lesufi.

The basic education website has a range of study resources free for use by any learner. Only 18 days remain before exams start. What are NSC Examinations?

The  National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, commonly referred to as “matric” has become an annual event of major public significance. It not only signifies the culmination of twelve years of formal schooling, but the NSC examinations is a barometer of the health of the education system.

The first national examination, under the newly elected democratic government, was administered in November 1996, following a highly decentralized approach.
