Broken women arise

"There's freedom in authenticity; it sets you apart from the ordinary."

The Soul Inspiration presented a Broken Women Arise Seminar at the June 16 Memorial Arch on October 7.

The event saw attendees from various walks of life including Nimrod Nkosi who spoke a lot about broken women from a man’s perspective, Maris Gerards Ambassador of the Netherlands to South Africa and Nthabi Montsho, Founder of Soul Inspiration.

The objective of the seminar was to educate and inspire women, both young and old who are professionals, unemployed graduates and high school learners on how to arise with power regardless of the hurtful journeys that they had to embark on.

Nimrod Nkosi, a television presenter, and actor, touched on how thoughts have the power to shape one’s future.

He emphasised the role of positive thinking in overcoming circumstances. “if you cannot solve your problem in dealing with your problem you then need a circle of our friends who would nurture through your problems but prayer is the first thing to do when one discovers that they were broken and need help,” he added.

With the women’s seminar themed as “Broken Women Arise”, Nthabi emphasised the importance of women embracing their individuality and unleashing their potential in business.

“The purpose of seminars like these is to help women arise from their scars and brokenness because I too was a broken and depressed woman so it’s through such seminar that women can help nurture each other,” Nthabi said.

She further added, “There’s freedom in authenticity; it sets you apart from the ordinary. It’s a journey really, and once you embrace what makes you different – your authentic self – you’ll excel.”

While Nthabi expanded on the topic of authenticity she also emphasised the need to prepare women with skills both at a social and professional level.

“As women, we deal with so many challenges, some abstract and others concrete. It’s important that we equip ourselves emotionally and physically for such encounters,” said Nthabi.

Towards the end of the seminar, the audience was given the opportunity to engage by networking with business women who had stalls set. And discussions took to the floor where women were to expressing themselves sharing their challenges and experiences.

“I have attended a lot of women empowerment seminars but, I have never attended one that provided the space and platform for young women to be vulnerable and openly and unashamedly discuss their challenges.

This experience for me was truly refreshing and it really showed me the importance of being more action driven” said Belinda Ndaba, an attendant of the seminar.
