UPDATE: Police launch manhunt after a 23-year-old woman was shot in Westbury

A word from the police regarding yesterday's incident.

According to Sophiatown Police communications officer, Jerbes de Bruyn, a woman was shot by a stray bullet in the neck when an unknown male opened fire at a group of men in Florida.

De Bruyn said the victim was working in the vicinity when she got caught in the crossfire.

The 23-year-old was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment. The incident happened at about 1.30 pm.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

A case of attempted murder has been opened.
