The Still I Rise Campaign well received in Riverlea

Still I Rise.

The Still I Rise Campaign was launched at the Riverlea Recreation Centre on October 5.

Still I Rise is a newly established organisation which is dedicated to improve, inspire, and motivate the health and wealth of young females who are going to school in the community.

The reason they are focused on girls in the community is that there are certain areas which are underprivileged.

Too often girls do not have the necessary guidance and financial means to take care of themselves with regards to sanitary pads and other necessary hygiene items.

Marilyn Fortuin, Jacqueline Barns, Malanie Mazibuko, Desiree Valentine, Phumzile Sithole and Ramona Kasavan are the women who were involved in this initiative.

Mimi Women came through and assisted us with a wellness talk and shared their story on how they empowered and motivated young women from all walks of life.

“Nicole Heywood, who is an assistant at Mimi Women took us through information on breast awareness sanitation,” said chief executive officer Mazibuko.

According to her, they are now equipped to embark on changing the lives of the children in the community.

“That our mothers and daughters can be one in building up our community. The children are our future. Just like moons and like suns with the certainty of tides, just like hopes springs high, still I rise,” said Mazibuko.
