Taxis to PTA suspended till further notice

The actual date for the inception of the taxis going to as far as Centurion for the residents of Diepkloof has had to be suspended.

The actual date for the inception of the taxis going to as far as Centurion for the residents of Diepkloof has had to be suspended for a while, due to the passing away of the Public Relation Officer (PRO) for City A Centurion Taxi Association.

The joint venture between City A Centurion Taxi Association and Diep-Meadow City Taxi Owners Association will bring a sigh of relief to commuters from Diepkloof with their new route to Centurion via Jon Vorster for only R40 a trip.

Commuters are urged to watch the space for this service since the route from Diepkloof to Centurion has had to be paused until the other association has finished with the funeral procession of one of their own and until further notice.

The public relations officer for Diepmeadow, Joseph Xaba apologised for the 2 October date that was published earlier, he said, “We are sorry for the prior date that was published, but we are working hard to upgrade all our taxi services for the community of Diepkloof.”

Even the Modiseobetse Taxi Rank that was said to have been conveniently moved to the Bareng Taxi Rank will not necessarily move, but it will work hand in hand with the Bareng Taxi Rank in Diepkloof next to the Diepkloof Square.

Taxis travelling from Bareng to Southgate will go via Modiseobetse picking up passengers, but the inception of this route will be made known to the community in time.

Passengers will get taxis going back to all the zones in Diepkloof at Southgate; however, a marshal by the name Xinda will be available at Modiseobetse to help passenger stay clear of confusion.

The community of Diepkloof will have their own local taxis which can be signalled with an open palm five sign, known as Diepkloof all Zone Square.

The local taxi will rate at R5 a ride from October 9 as well, instead of the previously published prior date.

The operation that began at Zone Five will also move to the Bareng Taxi Rank and Taxis travelling from Diepkloof to Randburg will cost the passenger R16, the inception of this route will be announced to the community as well.

Jabu Shabangu of the Disciplinary Committee for Diepmeadow explained that the Diepmeadow association has opened a new rank which is newly built to accommodate the community of Diepkloof, Shabangu said, “We are in an endeavour to open more taxi ranks for the people’s convenience and to offer them smooth, reliable and quality transport services.”

The Diepmeadow taxis can be identifiable by their unique sticker on the front.

Xaba said, “People have suffered a long time without their own designated taxi rank, and we urge unity and pledge to help the community travel safely and conveniently.”

Xaba added that there is an illegal taxi rank that operates just near the Bareng Taxi Rank and it is under the WATA taxi association, Meadowlands Taxi Rank, and Hlanganani long distance.

Xaba said, “What is being operated outside Bareng Taxi Rank is no rank, it was supposed to be a pickup and go spot, that operation is ruining our reputation.”

Residents are urged to visit the association’s offices at the Bareng Taxi Rank for any suggestions.

Xaba said, “The association sincerely apologises for any inconveniences, there has been no any other way we could promptly communicate with the community since the local newspaper gets published once a week.”
