Water worries? Look no further

"We also create job opportunities for Soweto residents by hiring them when we install the tanks."

It is a not-so-well-known fact that South Africa is a water-scarce country which faces constant water shortages and Innovative Water Fabrication (IWF) is a company which has designed and manufactured solutions to assist with water recovery and the harvesting of rainwater for municipal back-up.

They have designed water tanks which will serve the double purpose of either being flooded or free-standing units.

Jacques Jacobs IWF said the tanks were manufactured from high-quality International Organisation Standardisation certified materials that used in the manufacturing of pools, bathtubs and numerous other products used in day-to-day lives.

“Our tanks are therefore healthier than the other tanks available on the market but we have been able to manufacture a strong product that we supply with a twenty-year warranty.

“We also give professional assistance regarding installation, filtration of the water and a comprehensive list of accessories needed. “Our tanks are available in 750l, 1 300l and 3 000l,” said Jacobs.

Another member of the organisation, Eddison Mathopa, who lives in Mapetla Extension said the tanks are safe and they are willing to help local schools, daycare centres and residents who are interested in preserving water.

“We also create job opportunities for Soweto residents by hiring them when we install the tanks,” said Mathopa.

Jacobs said with the shortages the country faced last year, he made a decision to try and save water in his home and after looking at the various water tanks available on the market, he found them all to have the same cylindrical shape and that they did not appeal to his house.

Quick Mthandana, another worker at the fabrication, and he then designed and built their first tank and put it back into his garden.

“With our country being known to be water scarce, we decided that we were able to make a difference to the water shortages by supplying tanks that are suitable for rainwater harvesting and as a municipal back-up,” said Jacobs.

He said all their tanks were manufactured by hand and they would, therefore, be able to create jobs and supply the demand for tanks that are unique to this market.

“We are hoping to find investors in order for the business to grow and become a key player in the saving of water and becoming a household name globally as the company has the expertise to do it,” said Jacobs.
