Make the circle bigger by lending a hand

The aim is to eliminate social ills in the community by having feeding schemes at schools

A talent show, prizes, free stall settings, free food, free kiddies’ games. A perfect day for the community to bond brought to you by the Saeed Foundation.

The Saeed Foundation is a non-profit organisation which is based at the Danie van Zyl Recreation Centre and is owned by Saeed Abrahams.

They aim to eliminate social ills in the community by having feeding schemes at schools like Westbury Primary, Riverlea and Wilhelmina Hoskins Primary Schools.

From time to time, they host empowering events and for the past three years they have been running their annual ‘Charity begins at home’ event.

According to Salama Jardine-Abrahams, the organisation aims to inspire through giving back and uplifting the community, all at once.

The foundation also has a production side which is focused on arts empowerment. On December 2, they will be hosting their annual charity event at the Danie van Zyl sports grounds.

Abrahams said that they would like community radio stations, newspapers, non-profit organisations and corporate companies to extend their hands on this day. “By joining hands, we can only make the circle bigger,” he said.

Entry will be free and they aim to feed 2000 people this year. Abrahams explained it as being basically an open day for the community.

In the next two months, the team will start collecting items of clothing which will be distributed to the underprivileged on the day.

There will be free food, activities for children, and anyone from the community is welcome to set up stalls to sell their wares.

There will be entertainment and Abrahams said that if you are a business owner, you can promote or sell your goods and services on that day too.

In order to make this day a success, the Saeed Foundation would like you to put a hand into it, whether it’s being a volunteer or anyone who would like to add a donation for the day, contact Saeed Abrahams on 079 194 0837.
