Soweto East Cluster Police have released a statement detailing shocking deets regarding yesterday’s murder of a taxi passenger in Meadowlands afternoon.
According to captain Hilter Ngwenya, a driver had a number of passengers in the taxi driving along Maseru Street in Meadowlands when four unidentified male passengers took out firearms.
“They commanded the driver to stop the taxi and dragged him to the backseat. One of the suspects drove the taxi while the other three were robbing boarding passengers and ordered them to vacate the vehicle. One of the passengers attempted to escape the vehicle when he suffered multiple gunshot wounds in his upper body.
“The suspects then drove the vehicle and tried to disconnect the tracker but they couldn’t locate it, and so they fled the scene of crime leaving the victim in the vehicle.
“The vehicle was discovered by the police during their routine patrols. Paramedics were called but declared him deceased on arrival. An investigation is underway,” said Ngwenya.
