1 day to go before petrol price increase
Skyrocketing fuel prices will leave a dent in your wallet
The petrol price is expected to go up on Wednesday. The Department of Energy released a media statement on September 29 detailing price changes.
Economic factors that contributed to the price changes as cited in the statement suggest the following: “The average international product prices of Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review. The Rand appreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period.
“The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 01 September 2017 to 28 September 2017 was 13.1317
compared to 13.2152 during the previous period. This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuels Price on petrol, diesel
and illuminating paraffin by 3.86c/l, 3.78c/l and 3.76c/l respectively.”
