Sewerage burst now a thing of the past

“We are now living happily in a clean, safe and healthy environment."

Sewerage mayhem often terrorises residents living alongside Mlotshwa and Lekgetho Drive in Dobsonville is finally resolved.

According to Noxolo Gqetwa DA Ward 44, Chairperson said, the sewerage has been blocked since May.

“The bad smell of spewing water from the sewerage made resident’s lives in the area very difficult.

“We have been raising the complaint to the authorities without getting any help for several months. Finally, we took the matter upon ourselves and raised the issue with Johannesburg Water,” said Gqetwa.

The JW technicians were finally dispatched to the troubled area and they sorted out the damaged sewerage.

DA members and the public took it upon themselves and cleaned up the debris of the blocked sewerage.

“We are now living happily in a clean, safe and healthy environment. I would like to applaud all the people who took part in the unblocking process of this sewerage drain and cleaning of the sewerage debris as the smell was unbearable to both young and old residents in the area,“ said Gqetwa.

She said the unsuspecting children from the nearby primary school were often seen playing inside the sewerage water which might impose severe health risk to them.
