Teachers turned away at Klipspruit West Sec School by community

Four teachers turned away at Klipspruit West Secondary School

With pictures of a burning bus imprinted on our memories, and protesting parents demanding the removal of the principal at Klipspruit West Secondary School (KWSS), the school has hit the headlines again.

Four teachers and a general worker were denied entry to the school yesterday after allegations surfaced of abuses on coloured learners by educators.

Exams are imminent and residents have vowed to continue the disruptions until Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi addresses their concerns.

Charis Pretorius, media liaison of the Greater Eldorado Park Business Forum said that as much as they always advocated the fight for the underdog, they cannot condone the situation at KWSS.

She said, “The fact that there has been no effective teaching at the school for months now and learners are still wandering around aimlessly and there are no educators or SGB members visible at the school, leads me to believe that the original fight has been tainted by personal agendas.”

Pretorius added that the forum disapproved of such malicious and destructive behaviour.

“The SADTU threat is still very real in this situation and the Department of Education needs to take a serious look at the situation for what it really is-their failure to fix a situation they created.”

This statement was made in reference to their belief that the department of education had not provided a workable solution to the problems plaguing KWSSS.

While the controversy surrounding the school continues to create tensions in the community, many are left hoping that it is resolved in the interests of the learners who are left to their own devices just before the all-important examinations.
