SA businesses scoop top honours at FACIM

South Africa meets Mozambique

South Africans boast innumerable talents and have shown that they are capable of competing against the best on the continent.

The country recently added two accolades after walking away with awards at the Mozambique International Trade Fair (commonly referred to as FACIM).

The competition was stiff as there were 30 countries hoping to snatch the awards at the Trade Fair hosted by Mozambican prime minister, Carlos do Rosário towards the end.

The awards which South Africa walked away with were the Best Pavillion Award and a Johannesburg-based company specialising in the production of audible and visual signalling devices was selected as the Best Exhibitor at this year’s trade fair.

The awards were received by the High Commissioner of South, Mandisi Mphahlwa after SA scooped the award in three attempts.

Mphahlwa said, “This award talks to South Africa’s high regard for Mozambique in general, and FACIM in particular, and the seriousness with which we approached the exhibition.

“All of these are reflected in the number and calibre of companies that we bring here, and an effort that we make in putting up an aesthetically pleasing pavilion that stands out from the rest through its structure, branding, mix of sectors and calibre of companies”

According to him, the products showcased by the 20 companies were tangible and caused the judges’ decision to sway in South Africa’s favour.

Kama Industries’ product specialist said that visitors to his stand were in awe of the audio and visual signalling devices on display and the fact that they were able to touch and hear the devices would ensure that the company enjoyed more exposure in Mozambique.
