The South African Police Service (SAPS) Soweto East Cluster (SEC) celebrated Spring Day in unique style with fun and colour.
From their day-to-day crime-fighting roster to kicking it back and relaxing, basking in the ambiance and enjoying the casual day with their fellow colleagues. SAPS SEC started their day at Maponya Mall before taking to the streets of Soweto.
The Eldorado Park Police spokesperson, captain Phillemon Khorombi, said, “Today’s activities included a gathering at Maponya Mall where we participated in aerobics with the main aim to have fun.
“We started our journey at Maponya Mall and walked along Chris Hani Road, Klipspruit Valley Road, Boundary Road and down Cumming Road to the Eldorado Park Stadium. The stadium was where the real fun started. We are all braaing and having refreshments and just enjoying ourselves,” he said.
The police stations which were present were Eldorado Park, Diepkloof, Kliptown, Meadowlands, and Orlando.
Cluster commander, major-general Patricia Rampota of the SEC said, “This was a joint venture for an integrated event themed “Let’s Celebrate Diversity” with stakeholders such as Correctional Services, EMS, (Emergency Management Services) JMPD (Johannesburg Metro Police Department), Virgin Mobile, Maponya Mall, Assupol, Old Mutual, and CAD SAPS.”
This event’s ultimate goal was to raise funds by selling casual day stickers. These funds would then be used for the disabled people that CAD SAPS works with.
Putting a springing step in the lives of those who are unable to do so themselves.
