Drive right for teen moms

Tshiamo is a humanitarian organisation that caters for the teenage mothers and their children. They provide livelihood, education, and support to the teenage moms and their children because that is what they believe is their basic human right.

The organisation believes that their services are required because there is a persistent social injustice directed at teenage mothers which require urgent redress.

The empowerment programme will gradually impact positively on the behavioural change and standard of living.

They focus on the transformational and sustainable welfare of teen mothers through the promotion, protection, and enhancement of their rights through policy advocacy and awareness creation.

The organisation fulfills its aims by pooling resources from well-wishers and the voluntary skills of professionals from all over the globe. They believe in giving back the lost hope to the teenage moms in order for them to regain their lives again.

Through their programmes, they empower the teenage moms to blossom into future ambassadors of Tshiamo to the teenage girls who are getting pregnant at an adolescent age group while still in school.

With an ultimate goal of alleviating teenage pregnancy in Soweto, seeing young parents going back to school and fulfilling their dreams as well as seeing young mothers being independent and successful.

On Saturday, August 26, the foundation hosted a teenage pregnancy Clio drive, which was a campaign that was held in Kliptown and Freedom Park.

Here, they taught young girls about the prevention of teen pregnancy and the dangers of having a child while still being an adolescent.

They motivated them to be independent as well as to focus on their studies as more opportunities are now available out there for the youth.

The team donated clothing and toys to pregnant teens and teen moms.
