Cleansing experience for Eldos moms

Little Rainbow Crèche (LRC) is a crèche that is in existence for over 25 years. The vicinity of LRC had recently been renovated by Sasol.

The crèche was started by May Williams, who had a little bit of tough background because of the love she thought was lost.

Williams said, “I come from a house where I never respected my mother. I never knew that my mother loved me. I learned over the years that I was wrong and I asked for forgiveness.”

On Tuesday, August 29, LRC hosted the elderly to a pampering session in aid of bringing about awareness to the youth in the community of the Greater Eldorado Park that they should respect and honour their parents and more specifically, their mothers.

“I encourage the youth to respect and love your mother. Do whatever it is that you can do for them,” she added.

Williams used the youth of the community and the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA) Ke Moja coaches to pamper the mothers as they soaked and washed their feet followed by a foot massage.

Those who do not have the blessing of a mother were given an opportunity to communicate with a mom and learn how to respect mothers in general.

Williams explained what the event was for and said, “We are doing this to say thank you and that we love them. We washed their feet, massaged them and we also gave each of them a blanket. This opportunity gives the youth a chance to interact with mothers for those who do not have.”

Fabian Kroots, also part of the LRC team, said “In life, we have government people that are well off and those who do not work, but we would like to reward the ones actually doing the work by saying thank you.

“Sometimes all that we do is complain but we don’t realise the hard work that they do, so this is a token of appreciation. To all the stakeholders including Social Development, South African Police Service, Education Department and social workers, we would like to say thank you.”

Kroots added, “This is a build-up to the big event we are going to have in December. We’ll start with going bigger at the end of September, where we’ll be having a fundraiser and we would like to encourage young people to come with their parents and learn how to appreciate them, be it just a random act of kindness.”
