Bikers not just a traffic nuisance

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, human trafficking generally takes one of two forms.

In the first few months of the year, there was talk about human trafficking as many girls around Gauteng were reported missing. Some were found in brothels, some murdered while others are still missing to this day.

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, human trafficking generally takes one of two forms, these are trafficking into labour and sexual exploitation.

More specific forms of trafficking include domestic servitude, forced marriage, child soldiers, forced begging, forced criminal activity and organ trafficking.

There were many speculations that girls and woman were being trafficked for organ trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Many had marches and campaigns against the crime but a brave group of bikers; Shane Anthony, Llewelyn Williams, Eldred Damons, Emanuel Damons, Ezekiel Damons & Lawrence Le Ray took a different approach to the fight.

According to Miriam Jacobs, the bikers started their anti human-trafficking awareness campaign in March with the Agency Bikers Club riding from Johannesburg to Cape Town and the East Coast.

During Women’s Month, the group hiked from Coffee Bay to Mazeppa Bay in the Eastern Cape and continued the campaign after their return to Johannesburg.

“They partnered with The Queen of Hearts & Sesego Cares during both campaigns. Their campaign kicked off on Women’s day, August 9 hiking 30 km from Klipspruit West, via Southgate, through Nasrec and ended the trek in Bosmont at the Queen of Hearts Senior Woman’s Day where they were given a send-off by the ladies,” said Jacobs.
