Stalemate fitting end to a thriller of a match (Eldos)

Eldorado Park Football Association League

This past Sunday in an Eldorado Park Football Association League encounter in the U16 division, Park Boys FC, coached by Imoraan Sahabodien (red) played Atletico FC (green) who are coached by Garrin Jansen in a nail-biting action packed game.

Park Boys FC opened up the scoring when number 11, Sanele Xiqubu scored a goal placing the ball right between the ‘keeper’s legs. The goal came from a build up all the way from the midfield.

The first half of the game ended at 1-0 which was the catalyst for a tightly contested second half.

Langa Thokozane from Park Boys had all the time and space to cause an upset but shot the ball well off target.

Gift Chauke, also from Park Boys made a run and took a spectacular shot at goal placing the ball in the top right corner of the goal post and extending their lead by 2-0.

Atletico attempted a response to that when Kaylen Scheepers headed the ball past the goalkeeper in a one-on-one challenge, but Themba Afrika displayed brilliant defensive skills by saving the ball just off the line.

Scheepers was determined to put the ball in the net as he shortened the gap between the two teams by scoring Atletico’s first goal of the match.

Cameron Phale put the game back on level terms as he struck the ball in the back of the net after a powerful strike drove it into the top left corner of the goal post.

Both teams had several chances of taking the lead but wasted opportunities resulted in a 2-2 draw.

Park Boys FC player almost loses the ball after slipping.
