DA revamp branches leadership

The elections went without hindrance

As part of preparations for 2019 general election, the Democratic Alliance (DA) embarked on series of branches leadership elections which will be instrumental for mobilising and swelling DA’s branches membership at the grassroots.

The campaign kick-started with Ward 47 elections of their new leadership at Samuel Mangala Primary School in Dobsonville last Saturday.

Ward 47 DA members re-elected Carol Kodisang as their chairperson for the second term in office.

Kodisang was excited about faith bestowed on her by the branch.
She is optimistic that the newly elected executive members will be instrumental in taking the party moving forward.

She promised that they will play a significant role in building DA in their ward. Her deputy is Richard Modiba and the secretary is Hilda Megalane.

DA Ward 48 members also hosted their elections in Dobsonville Tennis Court on the same day, where the new leadership was also elected.

Their newly elected chairperson is Noxolo Gqetywayo and the deputy is Tshepiso Mosidi and secretary Vinolia Mabuane.

As if that was not enough, democrats also hosted another branch executive election at Bramfischerville for Ward 44 in the same afternoon.

Their newly elected leadership members are Ntombi Mathibedi chairperson, Philemon Mangane deputy chairperson and Seipati Mogale is the secretary.

The final DA leadership branch elections were held last Sunday at Braamfischerville Ward 49.

Ward 47 DA chairperson Carol Kodisang was reelected.

The newly elected chairperson is Themba Chauke, deputy chairperson David Jonas and Silas Mathebula is the new secretary.

DA PR councillor Pogiso Kgobokoe reminded the newly elected leadership that they should start hitting the ground running.

“The new leadership is being tasked with a huge responsibility of growing DA at the grassroots prior to 2019 general elections.

“They should recruit 20 000 plus DA voters in four wards namely, 47,48, 44 and 49 before 2019 general elections,” said councillor Kgobokoe.

The elections went without hindrance under the watchful eye of DA presiding officer facilitator DA PR Councillor Gerry Ramaru.

“We are happy that all members elected are DA members in good standing and we are happy about the new leadership role in the party.

” We are optimistic that they will serve the community effectively and if need be, they will be held accountable by their constituencies.”

Ramaru presided over three DA’s branches leadership election at Ward 44,47 and 49 last weekend.
