Tsaro’s Tavern does not allow female customers to sit and drink but purchase and leave

Tsaro Tavern keeping the peace while serving drinks

Tavern owner Themba Mvelase, also known as Tsaro of Tsaro’s Tarven has figured out how to maintain peace while selling liquor to run his household with dignity.

Mvelase used to live in Orlando East but had to move to Diepkloof after purchasing a house.

He worked for Nampak Liquid Packaging for a while as a controller, but as his family kept on growing, he needed more income, so he thought of starting a business.

While going to work from Diepkloof one day he saw vendors at Bareng and that sparked an idea in his mind. The idea was supported by his discovering a Joburg Beer delivery truck and it took direction.

Having a good social network helped Tsaro when he was starting out. He said, “My friends from Orlando were fond of me, so they visited my place a lot and gave me support.”

It was Tsaro’s decision to include selling beer as well after his friends suggested it.

Tsaro’s Tavern has been able to avoid negative headlines like people dying in the tavern or fighting because it closes early and he does not allow female customers to sit and drink but purchase and leave.

Sable Masilo who is often available to help at the business, explained that it is wise that only gentlemen are allowed to sit in and drink liquor because most violent cases in taverns are incited by the availability of females or linked to a woman.
