‘Interactive classes nurtures creative bone’

Makoba enjoying what he does

Ramarutha Makoba has recently been recognised for his work at the Emndeni Skills Development Centre followed by an interview with Top Billing.

Looking into the work he does in the community, the renowned artist has dedicated his time to empowering underprivileged children through expressing themselves through arts.

Doing this as an extension of his passion, Makoba is on a journey to grooming one of the most talented artists.

Makoba is currently running his own art exhibition at Newtown where he showed his most recent and some of the best work he has produced to date.

Born and raised in Diepkloof, the artist forms part of Artist Proof Studio and has been teaching the art class at Emndeni Skills Development Centre for the past three years.

“The one thing I love about teaching this class is that they are interactive, so it makes it easier for one to nurture their creative bone,” said Makoba.

He became part of the centre through an outreach programme initiated by Artist Proof Studio and decided to choose the centre because he wants to give back to Soweto youth as he was born and bred in the area.
