#CisheNgafa, The story of an Anti Human Trafficking activist Grizelda Grootboom

Twitter reacts to the emotional story of Grizelda who was the victim of trafficking

This week’s episode of Cishe Ngafa, audiences watched Grizelda Grootboom originally from Cape Town sharing her emotional story characterised by poverty, survival in the streets of Cape Town, family abandonment, prostitution, drugs, human trafficking and eventually her escape from it all.

Grootboom’s life took a turn when she was raped at the age of nine by teenagers in Khayelitsha which made her to run away from home to live on the streets of Cape Town.

She later moved to Joburg at the age of 18 and attempted to start a new life but was trafficked when she arrived at Yeoville.

She said: “I was forced to work as a sex slave, being pimped and used a variety of drugs from ecstasy to cocaine  to name  a  few.

Grootboom is now an author of a book called ‘Exit’  where she tells her story.

She works with an non-government organisation “Embrace Dignity” supporting women who want to escape the life of prostitution.

The audience emotionally reacts on Twitter after watching her story which reminded them that human trafficking is indeed real and some embraced the strength of a woman.
