A 28 years-old man was hijacked his White Nyathi taxi at Dobsonville on July 7 by three men and was left stranded in Thulani Extension 6.
According to police reports, the incident happened about 8:30 pm, when the car was ferrying commuters from Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital to Dobsonville.
“One of the passengers asked to be dropped off next to the robot in Dobsonville. While dropping a passenger at the robot, the other passenger asked the driver to drop him at the nearby garage.
“While still talking to the other passenger, another taxi occupant pointed at the taxi operator with a firearm,” said captain Phefo.
She said the three suspects pushed the driver in the back seat and fasten his hands. Captain Phefo said the passengers were instructed to get off the taxi before the suspects drove away with the taxi driver.
“They took the taxi driver’s belongings before they dropped him off at Thulani ext 6 (Snake Park). The taxi was later recovered by the police after a long search,” concluded captain Phefo.
