Two separate police suicides

"I started knowing him in 2009 when I started working at Orlando Police Station."

A 50-year-old warrant officer Tshepo Mabe shot and killed himself at his house in Dobsonville Extension Three. In a separate incident, a suspected criminal also shot himself in front of police officers in Braamfischerville.

According to the Dobsonville Police Station spokesperson captain Jeanette Phefo, it was reported that the deceased police officer was stationed in Orlando Police Station.

“The late warrant officer Mabe killed himself in his house in Dobsonville last Monday in the morning,” explained captain Phefo.

Orlando Police Station spokesperson constable Monica Hangwane said the deceased was a dedicated police officer who served in the police force for a while.

“I started knowing him in 2009 when I started working at Orlando Police Station. Police officer Mabe left behind his children, wife, and relatives.
“Orlando police station officers would like to send condolences to the family of Mabe; we are with them in their sorrow. At the moment, we do not know what led to the decision to kill himself,” said constable Hangwane.

Meanwhile, in another separate incident, provincial investigation officers were conducting a stop and search in Braamfischerville. According to Provincial Police spokesperson Lieutenant Key Makhubela, the police stopped the suspect trying to search him.

“The suspect pulled out a pistol and shot police officers before turning the gun on himself and pulling the trigger. He then shot and killed himself on the very same crime scene where he initially shot the police officer,” said Makhubela.
