A police reservist has died after walking into a robbery at a supermarket near the Diepkloof Taxi Rank just before 8 pm last night.
Lieutenant colonel Lungelo Dlamini, the spokesperson for the Gauteng Provincial SAPS issued a statement in which he stated that not only would a reward be offered to residents who provide information which may lead to the arrest and conviction of criminals who commit violent crimes like the murdering of a police reservist, but police in Gauteng are on a manhunt for the group of five to six men who are linked to the untimely murder of constable Nicholas Maluleke (42).
Maluleke accompanied by his partner on a routine patrol of the taxi rank when they received a call and responded to the robbery at the supermarket.

Dlamini said, “While approaching the crime scene, several shots were fired at them. Maluleke was shot and wounded in the upper body. He was rushed to the hospital where he died on arrival. His colleague was not hurt.”
The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, lieutenant general Deliwe de Lange appealed to the community to isolate these criminals and explained that this is yet another police officer who has died on duty in a short period of time.
She said, ““A team of detectives will work around the clock to hunt down these ruthless criminals who have declared war on police officers.”
The case is under investigation and information about these crimes may be submitted to the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111.
