“A Giving Hand Is A Receiving Hand”

Remembering Mandela in 67 minutes

Have you ever stopped and thought about what it feels like to be alone? Like having no one to look after you when you’re young and vulnerable or even nobody to show you how to tie your shoelaces.

There are so many things in life to be thankful for. One of the things that some of us should be thankful for is having our parents in our lives.

In other’s lives, they aren’t as fortunate as many of us are. Mandela Day has provided many organisations with a mindset and a willingness to drive change in other’s lives, otherwise known as charity work.

On their quest to generate funds for their organisation, Masibambisane Orphaned and Vulnerable Centre (MOVC) will be hosting Mandela Day 67 minutes breakfast fundraiser at the Don Mateman Civic Centre Hall on July 22.

This will be the second annual 67 minutes breakfast fundraiser that MOVC has arranged. The breakfast, which is organised by the MOVC’s high school children’s committee, will start at 8 am and end at 12 pm.

MOVC has got a vision, a vision that entails witnessing a change in the awareness of parents towards their children and their safety.

The MOVC breakfast fundraiser is purpose driven. The purpose that keeps this engine running is raising awareness of the plight of vulnerable and orphaned children in our community through raising funds on Mandela Day.

What’s a Mandela day without a theme? MOVC has themed their breakfast “A Giving Hand Is A Receiving Hand.”

When someone wants to raise awareness, it is often to drive change, change in the way we see things or do things.

MOVC wants to renew a parent’s love for their children, have fun through raising funds as well as to educate the Greater Eldorado Park community on how to care and love for the vulnerable and orphaned children.

The breakfast wishes to cater for approximately 200 people keeping their bellies full as well as keeping their guests entertained.

DJ Ayoba and Jay Ross will be taking matters regarding entertainment on their hands. MOVC is in need of more tables in order to cater for the expected 200.

The number of tables that they need is 32, and unfortunately, they have not reached that mark as yet, with only 18 tables.

Members of the Greater Eldorado Park community and entrepreneurs are allowed to buy a table for their business associate or their family at R500 per table of five.

Anyone willing to assist, you are welcome to do so. MOVC has requested the support of the community by either helping out with complimentary prizes for the raffle, groceries, buying tickets etc. in order for them to achieve their mandate in caring for the needy through the 2017 Mandela Day breakfast fundraiser.

“Let’s all help children to have shelter, not sleep without a meal, have a school uniform and be able to pay for their first year at university/college and technical school,” said MOVC.
