Community Centre extends a helping hand

The centre has gone the extra mile to give a supporting hand to people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.

The Sizanani Community Centre has pledged to extend a helping hand to the disadvantaged, which include the vulnerable kids and orphans.

The centre has gone the extra mile to give a supporting hand to people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.

On Monday, July 3, the care center organised a fun day with its people which saw the Motjoli Primary School field playing host to different games which the care center personnel and the children were participated in on the day.

The indigenous games played on the day included games like ‘do like I do’, ‘there is a fire on the mountain’ and ‘mgusha’.

“We are trying our best to show these kids that they are still loved, they can still do what they want to do with their lives. And that is one reason we have organised this day and these games,” said Ntabiseng Nchodu, programme manager.

“Most importantly, we want these kids to engage with each other, we believe that when they are here they forget about a lot of things that they are faced with at home and in life in general.

“Our societies are now faced with different challenges, with child abductions and the violence our kids are faced with, this is our way to show support for them. Keeping them here the whole day and away from the streets, is be much safer.”

Nchodu continued to explain that apart from the games, “We are going to have one-on-one sessions where they will be talking about their difficulties so that we can find ways to help them.

“We are urging parents to take more charge of their children’s lives. Parents should follow up on each and every little thing which affects their children negatively because ignorance is the biggest problem we face,” she said.
